Let's start

Hello people!

We are almost two months here now and we were really busy but finally we want to start up our blog. It happened quite a lot in the last weeks so there is much to talk about!!

First week:
The first days were quite calm but very exciting to.
Me an Jose were the first to arrive in the house. We were picked up by Jeanette (our Coordinator) and Germàn (one of the former volunteers) and they drove us to our new home.
Germàn showed us the house.

We have a big living-room, a kitchen and a bathroom which we are sharing and additionally each of us has his own room.

And one of the best things is that we have a really big trampolin in the garden <3 Great fun..
When finally Léa and Andris arrived some hours later our group was completed.
We sat in the living-room and chatted and got to know each other.

On the next day we had a welcome lunch at Kyviksmarka, Jose's workplace. Almost everybody was there, our coworkers, our bosses and the former volunteers. It was like a farewell for the old volunteers and a welcome for us.We had some delicous warm indian food for the lunch. Well, lunch may be the wrong expression because it was only eleven o`clock. By the way this is one of the strange things in this country.. the eating habits. The Norwegians are used to have a little breakfast at seven or so in the morning and they eat lunch at eleven, usually cold food like sandwiches. They eat what they call "diner" at three or four (warm food) and sometimes they have also a little snack at eight or ten pm, something with bread.
Anyway, all of us brought some sweets from our home countries so that everyone could try a speciality of the countries.
It was a really nice meeting and a good start in the year :)

In the next days we had our first days at work which were really exciting. We got to know the places, our tasks, our coworkers and the kids and it was really impressiv and a lot of stuff which we experienced.

On one day our coordinators took us on a trip to the beach. We had a walk there, talked and took some nice pictures. Afterwards we had a BBQ in the dunes with fiskekake (fishcake), which is a norwegian speciality. It is actually not a cake but more or less meatballs made from fish.
After the beach we went to the three swords which is a big sculpture close to our house. It commemorates the Battle of Hafrsfjord in 872 after which King Harald Hårfagre united the three districts ( three swords) of Norway into one Kingdom.

All in all we really enjoyed our first week and had a lot of fun :)

Charlotte
