Mid-Term-Seminar

A little delayed comes our report about the Mid-Term-Seminar...
The Mid-Term-Seminar, as the name might imply, is a seminar, which takes place when half of the EVS time has passed. There you get the possibility to talk about the experiences you got so far, problems which might have occured  or your impressions in genereal  as well as the possibility to hear about the projects and experiences of the other volunteers in your host country.
Our seminar took place in Oslo and lasted for three days from the 11th-13th of February.
We were about 70 people from different destinations all over Norway.
The group consisted of people from two different On-Arricval-Trainings, ours in Selbu and another one which took place in Bergen. We met all our friends from the previous seminar and a lot of new people from the other group.
Wednesday, the first day was pretty much about getting to know each other and chatch up with the people we already knew from the On- Arrival-training.
We played some games and later on they devided us in two separate groups to follow the program of the next days.
The first group went to Oslo on Thursday and visited the Parliament, the Nobel Peace Prize Museum, and the Norsk Folkemuseum.  On friday they stayed in the hostel and had conversations about the situation in the projects, how people like their projects and some activities about problem solving. The second group did the same progam but the other way around.
Furthermore we had a presentation from a young Sami man about Sami history, culture and lifestyle then and now.
Thursday evening we all went out for a dinner together in a fancy Thai restaurant and had really nice yummy food.
Since we couldn't really sightsee Oslo during the seminar we stayed for the weekend in Oslo.
On saturday morning we went to the Holmenkollen (a big ski jump 1h by metro from the centre of Oslo)  and watched a little of the worldcup gouing on there.
After that we went back to the centre and visited the Opera house, the castle and the Vigelansparken ( the world's largest skulpture park made ba a single artist, Gustav Vigeland).
In the evening we went back to the hostel and spend a nice evening with some other volunteers who stayed over for a little longer in Oslo as well.
Our flight on sunday was quite late so we had the opportunity so visit a little more of Oslo. We went to the Akershus Festing and afterwards to the National Gallery. We saw The Scream from Edvard Munch which was pretty cool.
At around one we took the train to the airport finally and went back to Stavanger.
